  INSTALLING OCEANSIDE GLASS TILE

1. FOLLOW RECOMMENDED APPLICATIONS
Oceanside Glasstile is available in a wide variety of sizes and finishes giving you many options for most tile applications. Within
these choices there is a range of performance that should be considered when specifying our products.

Our exclusive Molten "Cast" (Hot) process produces hard, dense, impervious tile allowing its use in not only interior spaces but also
exterior applications including those in harsh freeze/thaw climates. Our "Cast" glass tile is available in a large array of solid body
colors with chemically stable finishes for use in pools, fountains and residential outdoor flooring. [PDF]

2. FOLLOW MOVEMENT PROVISIONS FOR CERAMIC TILE
Oceanside Glasstile's thermal expansion is similar to cement based substrates such as properly cured concrete and mortar beds as
well as cementitious board units (CBU), making our glass tile unusually compatible with these sub-bases. As a result, we recommend
the same movement provisions for our products as is recommended for all ceramic tile in Tile Council of North America's Handbook for
The Installation section "Movement Joint Design Essentials EJ 171-2006."

3. NOTE RECOMMENDED SUBSTRATES
Due to the nature of glass, our tile requires installation over the most stable substrates. We do not recommend installing any of our
products directly over any wood substrates. We follow the Tile Council of North America's recommendations for substrate preparation
that can be found on page # 3 of our Installation Guide. [PDF]

4. USE ONLY RECOMMENDED SETTING METHODS
Mastics and epoxies should not be used for installing Oceanside Glasstile because of the wide selection of more compatible,
high-performing, cement based installation products available and recommended by manufacturers for installing our glass tile. We
require the use of specific installation products listed on page # 4 in our installation guide. [PDF]

5. FOLLOW RECOMMENDED SETTING METHODS
"Tessera" paper faced mosaics including "Facets" (small jewels of glass) and "Ritual" (glass tile with that beach sand washed, less
slippery, finish) may be set using one or more of three new American National Standards (ANSI) for installing glass mosaic tile. The
new ANSI Standards-ANSI A108.14, A108.15 & A108.16, 2005?are available through the Tile Council of North America at
www.tileusa.com.

Oceanside Glasstile's large modules (individual tiles, not mounted) can be installed with some of the same methods used for other
tiles, with a few additional steps using required thin-sets and installation techniques. [PDF]

6. USE THE CORRECT TOOLS FOR CUTTING AND DRILLING
Cutting Oceanside Glasstile large module and mosaic tile is easy as long as you use a wet tile saw and 10" smooth continuous
diamond coated blades specifically made for cutting glass. [PDF]

Tessera, Facets and Ritual mosaics may also be cut using special glass mosaic tile nippers Oceanside Glasstile item #1950. [PDF]

Drilling Oceanside Glasstile's products is easiest using water swivels and fractional core bits, however a new diamond drill and small
amount of continuous moisture flow also works if you allow enough time and patience. [PDF]

7. FOLLOW MAINTENANCE RECOMMNENDATIONS
More than many other tile products, Oceanside Our is easy to maintain. Our tile does not promote bioorganic growth or absorb dirt and
it cleans easily using ph balanced soap and water or mild tile cleaners.

Water features, such as pools, spas and fountains present another aspect of maintaining our products. In these applications we've
found that lighter tile helps mask poor maintenance. In other words, the darker the tile the more one needs to maintain a consistent
water quality ph balance between 7.2 - 7.4 as well as scrub the tile with a stiff nylon brush, as needed, to reduce scaling and calcium
deposits which are a direct result of poor maintenance.
